Ways To Shake It: Strokes side project CRX announce fall tour, including Allston date

Strokes guitarist Nick Valensi has a new side project called CRX, and he and the boys are taking their radio-ready alt-rock out on the road.

Fresh off the band’s September release of debut single “Ways To Fake It”, CRX this morning announced a 25-date North American tour that comes to Brighton Music Hall in Allston on November 20. Tickets go on sale Friday at noon.

In addition to Valensi, CRX features keyboardist Richie James Follin (of Guards and Willowz), drummer Ralph Alexander (of the Dose), and a pair of People On People members, bassist Jon Safley and guitarist Darian Zahedi.

“One of the coolest things for me is that I began making this record as a vehicle to get onstage,” says Valensi. “But along the way, it started to feel like we were working on something more special than that. I’m excited to be singing and having a lot of fun with it, and I’m really enjoying the feeling of having to work hard to win people over. It’s like being a kid again — like everything is new and kind of scary but irresistibly fun, too.”

CRX will make their national TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live on October 11, and their debut album, New Skin, is out October 28 on Columbia Records. Full tour dates are after the video jump.
