Over the past few weeks, Depeche Mode have been promising a significant serving of news come October 11. Earlier this morning, all that came to fruition, as the legendary synthpop band delivered on their promise by revealing a new album and tour.
At a press conference live from Italy, Depeche Mode detailed their upcoming 14th studio album, titled Spirit, due for release next spring. “We’re working on the album with a new team: it’s produced by [Simian Mobile Disco’s] James Ford, and he’s helped us to make what we feel is a very incredible sounding record,” frontman Dave Gahan said at the press event, via Rolling Stone. “He was able to really guide us.”
Depeche Mode also outlined the first leg of a 2017 spring and summer European tour, and promised additional dates for North America.
Midway through their press conference, Depeche Mode sampled a handful of new songs from Spirit.
