Here are the 12 images nominated for Photo of the Year in the 2016 Boston Music Awards

Over the course of the year, there are countless photos taken at rock shows, live music events, and parties all across New England. But only a dozen have been nominated for Photo of the Year in the 2016 Boston Music Awards.

The 12 selected images, first submitted through the BMAs’ nomination committee, are designed to celebrate live music photography around Boston, and also support two local non-profit groups in Girls Rock Campaign Boston and ZUMIX. The nominated images were unveiled this morning by the BMAs, and you can scan through them below.

Voting in all Boston Music Awards categories is still open, and tickets to the December 8 ceremony at the House of Blues can be purchased here.

Here’s how things progress from here: the six photographs with the most votes by November 20 will then be auctioned off — with all of the money raised donated equally to Girls Rock Campaign Boston and ZUMIX. The BMAs state in a press release that they are also donating 50 percent of ticket sales generated via the Photo of the Year page to both organizations.

“This partnership could not have come at a better time as ZUMIX celebrates our 25th anniversary!” says ZUMIX Community Arts & Events Coordinator Jeeyoon Kim. “We are so psyched to share this opportunity with our friends at Girls Rock Campaign and to see the event be opened up and accessible to all ages. This is the beginning of a stronger and more inclusive Boston Music Awards.”

Voting for Photo of the Year concludes on the night of the awards.
