You’d be forgiven if you decided to sit out tonight’s American Music Awards, which are currently being televised from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. But if you did tune in, you may have caught Green Day making a bold political statement during their performance of “Bang Bang.”
And we’re sure president-elect Donald Trump is crafting a response tweet as you read this.
Using the stage to speak out against the Trump regime, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong led the band with a mid-song chant of “No Trump! No KKK! No fascist USA!” As other outlets have reported, the plea is an interpolation of lyrics from MDC’s early-’80s punk classic “Born To Die.”
