A North American Soul: Richard Ashcroft announces U.S. tour, plays Boston in March

Five years ago this past March, British singer/songwriter Richard Ashcroft delivered one of the greatest concerts Boston had seen in some while, performing an impassioned stripped-down acoustic set at the South End’s Villa Victoria Center for the Arts. Six years after that incredible appearance, the former Verve frontman is back in town, performing at the House of Blues on March 29, 2017.

The Boston date — arriving 20 years after the Verve played Avalon on Lansdowne Street for the Urban Hymns tour — is part of a six-date North American run that starts March 27 in New York and wraps April 7 in Toronto. At this point, don’t rule out a Mad Richard appearance at Coachella Music & Arts Festival later in April, either.

Tickets to the Boston show are reported go on sale Friday. UPDATE: Here is the link.

Ashcroft released his latest solo album, These People back in May via Harvest Records/Cooking Vinyl. Listen to the title track below.
