Hear Dikembe’s perfectly fine cover of Superdrag’s forever relevant ’90s jam ‘Sucked Out’

It’s now January 4 of the New Year, and we can’t think of a more appropriate song than Superdrag’s “Sucked Out.” The songjamanthem first appeared on the Knoxville rock band’s criminally underrated 1996 album Regretfully Yours, and like, say “Flagpole Sitta” by Harvey Danger, it has preserved its unfuckwithable status long after the ’90s alt-rock party has faded from memory.

This week, Gainesville alt-emo dudes Dikembe have given “Sucked Out” its own polish for modern times, enlisting vocal help from Carly Comando of Slingshot Dakota and offering up a whole new shine.

Seriously, it’s great.

Dikembe’s “Sucked Out,” which was premiered yesterday by Get Alternative (h/t the Rog, via Punktastic), is part of the band’s year-long covers project that promises fresh renditions of songs by Frank Ocean, Green Day, Shellac, and hometown heroes the Pixies all while they team up with guest vocalists each month.

Suck it in below.
