After a successful run at the Plough & Stars, Matthew Stubbs & The Antiguas have kickstarted the New Year by relocating their Downbeat Mondays series to the Sinclair Kitchen. The free, weekly “psych garage twang” night has stepped up its game with the move to Harvard Square, and last night (January 16), Stubbs and crew welcomed legendary blues guitarist Duke Levine to its ongoing jam session. Psychedelic projections cover the Kitchen in color while Stubbs and The Antiguas — nominated for a 2016 Boston Music Award in the Blues Artist of the Year category — fill the room with sound, so Vanyaland’s Eddy Leiva dropped by to see what all the noisy fuss was about.
