Let’s Get Physical: Will Dailey’s new vinyl single available only at upcoming shows

Last week we here at Vanyaland took an editorial stance against publishing premieres, feeling that their culture and practice has taken away from the original intent of sites like ours, which is to promote awesome music, regardless of who has it first. Luckily, we pulled this move just in time, as Will Dailey has a new single coming out tomorrow — and it won’t ever appear anywhere on the internet.

The only ones who will first have Dailey’s new Human Ammunition Vol. 1 7-inch vinyl release are those who show up to Atwood’s Tavern in Cambridge Thursday night (January 19).

Literally. Physically.

And they’ll get it just by walking through the door. Free vinyl with ticket? Sign us up.

The new release from Dailey & The Faithless Electors includes the songs “I Stay Possessed” and “You’re Right”, and are part of songwriter’s plan to release music away from the internet’s mad grasp. Those who attend his upcoming gigs at February 16 in Portsmouth and the next night in Plymouth will also score the vinyl, which was pressed to 500 copies.

“I wanted to make something that wasn’t dropping everywhere at the same time,” Dailey explains. “So something special with some songs that have been haunting me. These fever dream songs needed to get out of my mind before I started my next full length.”

Of course, Dailey is an equal opportunity musician, and he drops his vinyl a month after releasing two digital tracks (“Wings Born On The Way Down” and “Big Bright Sun”) that might never get their proper spin on wax.

But this approach feels much more natural. And it’s always nice to hold music in your hands.
