Public Service Announcement: McDonald’s ATM to distribute free Big Macs in Boston [relocated to Kenmore]

UPDATE, January 25, 2016, 10:35 a.m.: Due to interest in the event, the Big Mac ATM has been relocated to the McDonald’s restaurant in Kenmore Square at 540 Commonwealth Avenue. That takes a bit of the excitement out of the while thing, because you’re still going to a McD’s, but there it is. “There, we’ll be able to accommodate a larger quantity of Grand Macs, Big Macs and Mac Jr’s,” a rep tells Vanyaland. “The event will still take place next Tuesday, 1/31, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and McDonald’s team members will be at Huntington Bridge handing out coupons for free Macs for anyone unable to come to the new event location.”

Because shooting Chicken McNuggets across Boylston Street out of a t-shirt cannon is probably going a bit too far, McDonald’s has announced it will be installing an ATM to dispense Big Macs of various sizes in Boston’s Back Bay next week.

According to the tastiest Metro report we’ve ever read, the Big Mac ATM will be set up inside the Huntington Bridge between the Copley Mall and the Prudential Center on Tuesday, January 31. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the ATM will serve Big Macs in three sizes: the regular-ass Big Mac, and the fast food joint’s latest creations, the shrunken-down Mac Jr. and the beefier Grand Mac.

The burgers will be free of charge, but Metro says there is a price. “Just pick the Big Mac of your choice the machine’s touchscreen, Tweet out your swag (you’ve gotta pay somehow) and *BOOM* free burger.”

We honestly don’t know what that means.

When asked just how McD’s will be pulling off this stunt without a disinterested employee screwing up your order, local McDonald’s owner/operator Vincent Spadea relays the following: “We can’t give away all the secrets, but fresh Macs will be constantly loaded into the machine to ensure a high quality experience.”

We’ll see if we’re loving it on Tuesday.
