One of our favorite recent pastimes has been scanning through bands and artists’ self-applied tags on Bandcamp. Some are pretty to the point, and others are straight-up trolling. New York trio Slothrust have a unique combination on their page, and in addition to the generic “rock” and helpful “New York” ae two words we don’t think we’ve ever seen paired together: “grunge” and “blues.”
And yet, it totally works.
Back in October, Slothrust released their latest record, the critically-acclaimed Everyone Else via Dangerbird Records, and now as they prep a March coast to coast tour, the band have reminded us of the LP’s magnetic charm with a live video for “Horseshoe Crab.” The clip was filmed at Dangerbird studios in Los Angeles, and captures that raw, primal emotion we’re excited to experience in person.
And we need not wait too long.
Slothrust’s aforementioned tour kicks off right here in Boston with a March 1 date at Brighton Music Hall in Allston, where they’ll be joined by one-time locals Ian Sweet. That’s one motherfucker of a pairing, and the two bands play four shows together before And The Kids join Slothrust for their next six dates.
