New Sounds: Hunter Sharpe preps for SXSW with luminous new single ‘Playing Fair’

We’re one month from the kickoff of the South-By-Southwest Music Festival, and Austin native Hunter Sharpe is especially geeked about it as it takes place in his backyard. He’s got a couple of showcases lined up during the fest, with three gigs announced — and listed below — so far.

This Friday, the alt-rock guitar player/singer drops his debut EP, Forced Landings, and Vanyaland is proud to present the single and video for the absolutely luminous track “Playing Fair” ahead of its release.

“[It’s] an anthem for anyone that has ever been done wrong,” Sharpe tells Vanyaland. “It doesn’t matter what color your skin is, what clothes you wear, or what flag you fly. ‘Playing Fair’ is my way of saying that a healthy dose of love and a little bit of peace could make this game of life that we all play a little easier.”
