Beds Are Burning, Ears Are Ringing: Midnight Oil announce North American tour

Because these damn beds are still on fire, modern rock stalwarts Midnight Oil have announced their return. The Australian band will tour North America this spring, and hit Boston’s House of Blues on May 11. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.

“We promised you’d hear the news from us first so here goes — we’ll be touring the world between April and November of this year,” Midnight Oil write on Facebook. “The Great Circle 2017 will begin and end with gigs in our hometown and literally circle our planet in between. For dates and venues, head to midnightoil.com/tour-dates — and for first access to tickets you can join our mailing list at midnightoil.com/mailing-list. Please pay close attention to the official ticketing info so you don’t get ripped off by scalpers. It’s been too long but over the next few months we want to make up for some lost time. Hopefully we can share some of it with you.”

Midnight Oil released 11 studio albums between 1978 and their split in 2002, and are best known for hits like “Beds Are Burning” and “Blue Sky Mine.” They played some reunion shows in 2009, and last year teased that a larger reunion and world tour could be in store for 2017. They were not lying.

In addition to the world tours — which include stops in South America, Europe, and Australia and New Zealand — Midnight Oil are also releasing three large-scale box sets: The Full Tank: Limited Super Deluxe Edition (13 CDs and 1 DVD, and including all 11 studio albums), The Vinyl Collection Deluxe Box Set (13 LPs, including remastered editions, plus two 12-inch EPs), and The Over Flow Tank: Limited Super Deluxe DVD Box Set (8 DVDs, 4CDs).
