Force Friday Returns: First look at ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ toy and product packaging

The eighth episode of the Star Wars saga, The Last Jedi, doesn’t hit theaters until December 15, but a subtle peek at the vibe and feel of the new film was revealed this morning via toy and product packaging.

The official Star Wars Instagram posted the first teaser image from Force Friday II, the September 1 launch and rollout of The Last Jedi toy line, and it’s enough to get the wheels of the rumor mill spinning faster than General Grievous’ TSMEU-6.

In the image below, we see a white box (notable in its own right) with Poe Dameron, Rey, and Finn featured up top. For The Force Awakens, the toy and product line had a black base, with Kylo Ren appearing on all packaging.

From this look, Poe and Finn look fairly similar to how they appeared in The Force Awakens (does Finn have a new undershirt?), while Rey’s appearance, complete with blue Skywalker lightsaber and a confident stare, is a bit more refined. Her hair is pulled back in a different style than the previous film and — dare we say — it does look a bit more Jedi-like.

Exciting stuff.
