Studio 52 is a community artist space located in the heart of Allston, and is proud to support the Boston music scene and local artist community.

Last week we posted multiple articles on Sonia, the Middle East's new Cambridge rock club that will fill the vacant space left by the July 2015 closing of T.T. The Bear's Place. Now, in addition to updates from the venue and word on rental costs, we can now pass along news of the most important aspect of the Central Square facility: Actual rock and roll shows.

And just in time.

Sonia announced this morning that its first show (as of now) will go down Friday, March 31, and feature an all-local bill of alt-rock misfits Doom Lover, garage rock gents CreaturoS, Berklee + Vanyaland SXSW party participants Aüva, and Evan Kenney's new hardcore punk band, Bad Boys Club.

"Making art is hard," Doom Lover's Jeffrey Vachon tells Vanyaland. "Making it in Boston is even harder. So to have done the work it takes to have a place like the Middle East, a venue so integral to our music community, trust you with the opening night of their new room defies my understanding of language. I love this city so goddamn much, and I can't wait to get on that stage and remind everyone that Boston ain't dead, it's just getting fucking started."

Tickets are $10, and can be purchased in advance here. And as we noted in previous Sonia posts, this show is all-ages.
