Last October, Elvis Costello brought his Imperial Bedroom & Other Chambers Tour to the Orpheum Theatre in Boston. This summer, Costello hooks up once again with The Imposters to deliver the classic 1982 album to 20 additional cities across North America.

And while there is no Boston date on this second leg, there are three New England dates worthy of a quick road trip: July 23 at The Green at Shelburne Museum in Vermont; July 24 at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine; and July 25 at Providence PAC in Rhode Island.

Much like the last tour, this one takes the Imperial Bedroom LP as a starting point for a show that encapsulates Costello’s illustrious career. “We never intended to recite this book from cover to cover,” Costello says in a press release. “Listen to our new arrangement of ‘Tears Before Bedtime,’ it gets straight to the real meaning of that song, the way we hear and feel it today. Back in 1982, I might have been a step or two ahead of our crowd in the tragic, romantic stakes but I sense that they’ve all caught up with me now.”

Plus, Costello adds: “You never know who or what you are going to encounter down the corridor to those ‘Other Chambers.'”

The Imposters feature Pete Thomas on drums, Davey Faragher on bass/vocals, and Steve Nieve on piano/keyboards, with accompanying vocalists, Kitten Kuroi and YahZarah. Check out full dates in list and flyer form below.
