Studio 52 is a community artist space located in the heart of Allston, and is proud to support the Boston music scene and local artist community.

The Boston Music Awards are turning 30 this year, and to celebrate, the annual awards banquet is taking on a year-long effort to promote the best bands and musicians in the local scene.

As an extended build-up to the December 7 party at the House of Blues in Boston — where it was held last year — the BMAs today also announced the 617 Sessions, a new music series that gives free studio time to local musicians. Over the course of 2017, 10 artists will be selected and welcomed into the studio to professionally record their own material. Artists, agents, management, and fans are encouraged to register their interest via 617sessions.com.

“The goal with 617 Sessions is simple: Help artists make music,” says Boston Music Awards owner Paul Armstrong. “Beginning in May, we will provide 10 artists with an entire day of studio time, including engineers and studio assistants. Successfully chosen artists will also be given the chance to open the 2017 awards.”

More on the 2017 BMAs will be announced in the coming weeks. In the meantime, check out the full press release below, as well as the 2016 BMAs highlight video. Featured Michael Christmas photo taken by Cara DiFabio at last year’s party; check her full gallery after the video and release jump.
