Editor’s Note: A fun game to play for older folk around Boston is “Who is that on the Paradise Rock Club marquee?” It becomes even more fun when there are the letters S-O-L-D-O-U-T next to the band or performer name. So for those not in the know, there was likely a bit of head scratchin’ up and down Commonwealth Avenue on Saturday (March 4) before Dua Lipa’s headlining — and very sold out — gig at the ‘Dise. That sentiment should soon change, as the young London-born alt-pop singer is set to dominate the world of music very soon. The breakout singer, already armed with a “Best New Artist” nod at the NME Awards, an appearance on The Tonight Show, and endless media props as “One To Watch” for simmering hits like “Hotter Than Hell” and “Blow Your Mind (Mwah)”, is set to release her self-titled debut album on June 2. Those at the ‘Dise over the weekend already know — and soon everyone else will, too. Matthew Shelter was in the room for Vanyaland, and you can scan through his full Dua Lipa gallery below.
