RIP: ‘Chappelle’s Show’ star and comedian Charlie Murphy has died at 57

Comedian Charlie Murphy, who starred on Chappelle's Show and gave the legendary Comedy Central series some of its funniest moments, has died after a battle with leukemia. He was 57.

The brother of Eddie Murphy, TMZ reports that Murphy died Wednesday (April 12) at a New York City hospital where he was undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

"We just lost one of the funniest most real brothers of all time," tweeted Chris Rock.

On Chappelle's Show, Murphy famously recited his "Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories," where he and his brother interacted with Prince and Rick James in the 1980s.

Murphy was also a writer and actor, and as a stand-up comedian also performed at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston. He co-wrote multiple Eddie Murphy movies, like Norbit and Vampire in Brooklyn, played MC Gusto in 1993 comedy CB4, and as TMZ notes, recently toured on "The Comedy Get Down "with Cedric the Entertainer, Eddie Griffin, George Lopez and D.L. Hughley.
