Studio 52 is a community artist space located in the heart of Allston, and is proud to support the Boston music scene and local artist community.

Boston Calling Music Festival returns this weekend (May 26, 27, 28), and there's a lot going on. The three-day music and arts festival boasts its most impressive performer lineup in its four-year history, with an expanded food and drink offering all stretched out over a new location at the Harvard Athletic Complex. After seven fests at City Hall plaza in downtown Boston, the party shifts to the open acreage of Lower Allston, upgrading its overall layout from a condensed six acres surrounded by buildings to about 17 acres along the Charles River. We've been covering the news of this expanded and enhanced Boston Calling since organizers held meetings with Allston officials last fall, so here's a quick recap and rundown of where we stand today at the Boston Calling gates set to swing open this afternoon. What’s new for 2017? And what will we be eating and drinking?

To answer both questions: A lot. The move to Harvard meant more opportunities for expanded programming, both on stage and off it. Oh, and there is also apparently room for a ferris wheel, so you’ll be able to see your house from the very top.

There are now three main stages on site: The Green Stage, the XFinity Red Stage, and the Delta Blue Stage. And the comedians get their own arena, which should please Eugene Mirman. And the new layout was designed by sculptor Russ Bennett, who has created similar festival field plans for Phish, Bonnaroo, and Outside Lands.

Needless to say, the food and drink options have expanded as well. There will be 11 new vendors on site at Boston Calling, including Cambridge barbecue joint The Smoke Shop, Asian street food truck Moyzilla, beloved taco and burrito joint El Pelon Taqueria, vegan dessert spot FoMu, and the lobster-roll-and-oyster-slinging Shuck Food Truck. Returning to the fest are favorites like Tasty Burger, Zinneken’s Waffles, and Roxy’s Grilled Cheese and its vegan partner Whole Heart Provisions.

Of course, you’ll need some tasty adult beverages to wash all that down. Festival sponsors Miller Lite, Samuel Adams, and Dark Horse Wine will keep things flowing, and a Mikkeller Craft Beer Garden will serve as a refuge from the fest craziness and serve up its Boston Calling beer, the BC Dream Hoppy Pilsner.

And you’ll be able to get some free avocado toast from film distributors Neon on each day of the fest; look for their set-up near the ferris wheel.

Run through the entire Boston Calling food and drink menu.
