Whats This Strife For: Creed’s Scott Stapp leads the 2017 Make America Rock Again tour

When a press released hits one’s inbox with the title “The MAKE AMERICA ROCK AGAIN Tour is Back this Summer, Featuring Our Generation’s Top Heavy Rock Artists“, the mind begins to race. First, it’s great that the inaugural Make America Rock Again is back for another edition, because we’re sure Trapt, Saliva, Saving Abel, Crazytown, Alien Ant Farm, and whoever else was on that patriotic rock circus sure did our country proud. But secondly, who the eff could possibly leading this year’s tour?

Turns out Scott Stapp, that’s who.

The former (we guess?) Creed frontman is headlining the 2017 Make America Rock Again tour, which hits 17 spots mostly across North America’s East Coast and Midwest region this summer. And joining Stapp on this wild ride are Sick Puppies, Drowning Pool, Adelitas Way, and a return engagement from Trapt.

If you missed it last year, here’s a quick recap:

This year’s tour kicks off August 4 in Sturgis, South Dakota, and wraps September 9 as part of the Blue Ridge Rock Fest in Lynchburg, Virginia. There is just one New England date so far: September 3 at The Forum in Presque Isle, Maine.

And needless to say, Stapp is excited.

“I’m excited to headline Make America Rock Again!” he says in the press release. “We’ve got a great line-up that I’m looking forward to touring with. It’s going to be a great summer of rock and roll for the bands and the fans.” Adds Emma Anzai of Sick Puppies: “Can’t wait to hit the stage with our good friends for the Make America Rock Again tour, we’re pumped and ready to go! See ya out there.”

Drowning Pool played a few Make America Rock Again dates last year, and are back for sloppy seconds. “We can’t wait to return to the road and Make America Rock Again — last year’s dates were a blast, but pound-for-pound this year looks to be even bigger and better and is sure to be a don’t-miss experience,” the band says in a statement. “Drowning Pool and Scott Stapp were labelmates early in our careers, and it will be great to finally tour with him, our friends in Sick Puppies and Trapt, and our new friends in Adelitas Way. Together, we will… (wait for it)… (keep waiting)… MAKE AMERICA ROCK AGAIN! Can’t wait to see everyone on the road!”

Below are the “currently confirmed” Make America Rock Again tour dates for 2017. [Warning: “Select dates feature different forms of the line-up, see next to each date for line-up. Dates with no line-up listed next to them feature the full bill.”]
