Arcade Fire deliver on content promise, release new single, detail LP, announce tour

Earlier in the week Arcade Fire ramped up their online presence, telling fans to “Stay tuned for Infinite Content.” Roughly 48 hours later, we have content.

We’re not too sure we can classify it as “infinite,” but it certainly goes a long way.

Arcade Fire have shared a boisterous new single titled “Everything Now” (hear it below), and it’s the first taste off a new LP that’s due July 28 via Columbia Records. Everything Now, the album, is the Canadian band’s fifth overall and first proper follow-up to 2013’s Reflektor. It was produced by Arcade Fire, with assistance from Daft Punk‘s Thomas Bangalter and Steve Mackey of Pulp, and recorded at New Orleans’ Boombox Studios, Sonovox Studios in Montreal, and Paris’ Gang Recording Studio.

In addition, Arcade Fire have also detailed a North American tour for later this year, and in its early stages comes to TD Garden on September 15. Preservation Hall Jazz Band will open, and tickets go on sale next Friday (June 9).

Ironically, while we have to wait a few months for the Arcade Fire tour to play Boston, the new single and album title reflect our modern culture’s insatiable appetite for “now.”

“There’s sort of an everything-nowness to life,” Win Butler tells BBC Radio 1 via the NME: “I feel like almost every event and everything that happens surrounds you on all sides. It’s trying to capture some of the experiences of being alive now in all its flaws and all its glory.”
