Audioslave honor Chris Cornell by performing ‘Like A Stone’ around an empty microphone

In the time since Chris Cornell died unexpectedly last month, there have been a wealth of tributes from friends, fans, and collaborators. Last night in Germany, the surviving members of Audioslave provided the latest gesture, and it may be the most powerful.

At a Prophets of Rage gig in Berlin, Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk switched gears back to their collaboration with Cornell, playing an instrumental version of “Like A Stone” but with a lone spotlight shining down on the microphone and mic stand.

Naturally, the audience picked up the cue and delivered the song’s lyrics. Some fan-filmed video was captured by MiraB. on Instagram, who writes: “I must admit: it’s sad seeing this empty place in between Tim & Tom…”
