Editor’s Note: One of the best comebacks of 2016 had nothing to do with politics or sports. It was the return of celebrated Australian collective The Avalanches, who spent 16 years wrestling the arduous task of topping pretty-much-damn-perfect 2000 debut Since I Left You, an album that not only set the tone for the decade ahead but redefined a blueprint for eclectic musical cocktails. Robbie Chater and Tony Di Blasi dropped a new beat last summer with Wildflower, and the party is still raging. Last night (June 12), The Avalanches dropped by Royale in Boston, and no surprise the day ended up being one of the hottest of the year. Ben Stas was on the scene for Vanyaland, and you can scan through his full-on gallery below.
