What Studio 52 Says: Bred from the spirit of New England winters, Worcester’s Foxfires stands out as an exemplary sample of Massachusetts hardcore. As evidenced by their 2015 full-length Pinetum, Foxfires rip apart the genre and crafts something truly special out of it. Singer Josh Lyford’s expertise at songwriting truly shines throughout the entirety of the record, linking his raucous vocals and authentic lyrics with some of the finest melodic hardcore born in our state. It’s no surprise the band has been thriving since their inception in 2010, which can seem like an eternity compared to most bands to take on the hardcore scene. Thankfully, that scene is alive and well thanks to bands like Foxfires. Catch Foxfires in the midst of an extraordinary line-up consisting of Vaulted, Harvey Pekar, and recent Featured Band of the Week I am become Death next Tuesday night (July 18) upstairs at the Middle East in Cambridge. — Andrew Maroney, Operations Manager, Studio 52
