New Sounds: As William Patrick Corgan, Billy Corgan announces solo album ‘Ogilala’

Just in time for next summer’s 25th anniversary of landmark album Siamese Dream, rumors have been swirling about a possible reunion of Smashing Pumpkins’ original lineup. As we sit and wait and sit some more for that to materialize, frontman Billy Corgan remains busy on the solo tip.

Today (August 22), under his full name of William Patrick Corgan, the Chicago musician has detailed his upcoming solo record. Stereogum has the deets: It’s called Ogilala, it was produced by Rick Rubin, and it’s out October 13.

The first track off the LP is a piano number called “Aeronaut”, and it has a very warm, classic feel to it. Once the album hits shelves both digital and physical, Corgan is set to head out on a solo tour, though there are no Boston dates. He does play Brooklyn, Chicago, and San Francisco twice apiece, and pulls a November hat trick at Los Angeles’ Masonic Lodge At Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Full dates below.
