When Lorde dropped Melodrama, her sophomore album that bounded with a certain spry energy, she presented herself as a slightly-older, more mature version of herself as she was rocketing out of her teen years and into the foreboding realm of adulthood. In between tackling old lovelorn wounds, she tucked some party anthems between the singles “Green Light” and “Liability,” namely the airy “Homemade Dynamite.”
Now on the new remix of the tune, Lorde introduces more than “a couple” rebel top gun pilots, bringing Khalid, Post Malone, and SZA into the weekend bash mix. SZA (26) is the oldest singer on the track, everyone else being roughly Lorde’s age (Khalid is 19 and Post Malone is 22), which explains why the tune sounds exactly like a delightfully messy college drinking binge.
