Editor’s Note: Look, we know the world’s gonna mad and nothing in life is ever guaranteed, but we’re gonna get froggy if Middle Kids‘ breakout hit “Edge of Town” doesn’t show up on every Best of 2017 list making the rounds in a few months. The summer single, which has earned praise from Elton John while racking up millions of Spotify streams, is one of the more heartfelt and engaging guitar-rock songs of the year, and it was on full display this past Friday (September 15) as the Australian band played Brighton Music Hall in Allston for the latest Fenway Recordings Sessions. Joining Middle Kids was Boston’s Julie Rhodes — fresh off her scoring four nominations in the 2017 Boston Music Awards, including Artist of the Year — and Aubrey Haddard. McKayla Earley was at Brighton on behalf of Vanyaland to capture visuals from each of the night’s performers, and you can scan through her full gallery below.
