Studio 52 Spotlight: Animal Talk

What Studio 52 Says: Dance-rock quartet Animal Talk have cultivated a sound impossible not to move to by drawing influence from ’80s pop and adding elements of indie rock. They keep their fans enthralled with clean, natural sounding, dance inducing drum beats underneath driving solid bass lines, guitar parts that jump between funky and riffy, catchy lead synth lines, and soulful yet poppy vocal melodies you’ll find yourself singing along to. Their 2014 album Kid is a dance party from start to finish, kicking off strong with the powerful lead synth line in “Tie Me Up,” getting reminiscent of Michael Jackson in “World’s on Fire,” and winding it down smooth and groovy with “Dirty Feelings”. Bring the dance party to life at their early evening show tomorrow (Saturday, September 23) at the Middle East Upstairs in Cambridge. Animal Talk will be sandwiched between two of Boston’s danciest, Bearstronaut and Party Bois, so show up ready to shake it. — Trevor McSweeney, Studio 52
