Trio Grande: The Ballroom Thieves sign to Nettwerk Music Group

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: The Ballroom Thieves are on a roll.

The Boston-based acoustic folk trio recently partnered up with Night Shift Brewing for a new American Pale Ale named Thievery in their honor, and earlier this month showed up five times on the 2017 Boston Music Awards ballot, getting nominated for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (for sophomore album Deadeye), Live Artist of the Year, Folk Artist of the Year, and Male Vocalist of the Year (Martin Earley).

Their five nominations means they could actually better last year’s BMAs haul, when they took home three of those fancy black baton trophies (Live Artist of the Year, Americana Artist of the Year and Folk Artist of the Year). However they celebrate this year, it’ll be with a bit of an extended family, as it was announced today (September 26) that the Thieves have signed to Nettwerk Music Group.

The Ballroom Thieves join a roster featuring Passenger, William Fitzsimmons, Guster, Together Pangea, Savoir Adore, and others; check out their Nettwerk profile here.

“In this day and age of streaming artists, it’s great to find an artist that is amazing live and also streams,” Nettwerk CEO and co-founder Terry McBride tells Vanyaland.

The Ballroom Thieves’ first release on Nettwerk will be an October 20 single called “Only Lonely,” with a new EP due early in 2018. It’s safe to say one or both of those will be getting the “New Sounds” treatment from us.

In the meantime, the band heads out next month on a North American tour, and there’s more than a few New England dates. Scan through all the shows after the video jump.
