Like everyone else with a soul, we’ve been all about St. Vincent lately. We even joked internally that after hyping two of her new singles and her latest video (which you should really watch), we’d take a knee on St. Vincent coverage, at least until her “Fear the Future” tour comes to the House of Blues in Boston on November 30.
Now we’ve broken that rule after hearing the one and only Annie Clark cover The Clash’s punk classic “London Calling.” The acoustic cover came during a radio session this week on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show, where the Force Of Annie was in full effect. In promoting her excellent new album MASSEDUCTION, Clark played the LP’s singles “Los Ageless” and “New York” as well as the locationally-appropriate cover.
St. Vincent on The Clash? Yes, ma’am. The cover rises up around the 18-minute mark of the embed below.
