Hear The Roar of a Bleat Machine: The Mountain Goats cover The Sisters of Mercy

John Darnielle’s The Mountain Goats played Boston’s House of Blues earlier this week, and we totally slept on it. A few days later, and we’re kinda glad we did, because after looking at the set list from the previous night’s show at Brooklyn Steel in New York, we would have hit Lansdowne Street with… expectations.

And those expectations would have been met with disappointment.

You see, as Slicing Up Eyeballs reports this morning, Sunday’s Mountain Goats show in NYC featured a cover of The Sisters of Mercy’s 1987 goth mainstay “Lucretia My Reflection.” Monday’s show in Boston did not.

Damn Darnielle why you gotta do us dirty like that?

Luckily, nyctaper recorded the entire show, and the Goats’ Sisters cover can be heard below. We hear the roar of the bleat machine.

Of course, we are also required to tell you that this Mountain Goats run is called the Goths Tour, named for the North Carolina indie-folk band’s latest album, which features a single called “Andrew Eldritch Is Moving Back to Leeds.” So, you know, this shit is all related.
