We’ve been bumping DJ Knife’s recurring mixes now for the better part of a decade, as the Boston-based party-starter (and party-continuer) remains one of the more versatile talents in the game. Got a rock show? Book DJ Knife. Got a dance party that needs resuscitation? Book DJ Knife. Throwing a chill event by a freaking pool somewhere? Book DJ Knife. Or just hit up one of his ongoing parties around town, like PVRPLE at Good Life or Magic Dance Party at ZuZu.
Now with New Year’s Day in the books and those well-meaning resolutions dangerously close to falling by the predictable wayside, Knife’s got the musical motivation to stay on track, with a little help from the 1980s. And you need not go clubbing to get down.
His new Cassette Magic mix links up ’80s and new wave hits with modern jams, and it’s got us off our asses and knee deep into 2018 ambition.
It’s a motivator.
“For lack of a better description it’s a hipster cardio session with songs spanning four decades,” says DJ Knife “I wanted to make something that progresses in tempo as the mix evolves for the gym that’s different than what you would normally here in a class setting.”
