Studio 52 is a community artist space located in the heart of Allston, and is proud to support the Boston music scene and local artist community.

We knew Gozu were gonna go all out on their debut LP for Blacklight Media, a new label deep in partnership with the legendary Metal Blade Records, but never imagined the Boston metal outfit would bring it this strong.

“Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat,” the lead single from the band’s forthcoming Equilibrium album (out April 13), is a furious stomp of revved up stoner-rock riffage that tops out at nearly six-and-a-half minutes, with not a second wasted. The performance clip for the song, directed by Tony Simone at Zenbeast Audio, can viewed below.

“I would have to say that the band is sounding the best it ever has right now,” says Gozu vocalist and guitarist Marc “Gaff” Gaffney. “It takes a bit of time to feel everything out. When you are serious about it, you have to work as a team, and we are four guys that dig the same kind of music and love to play, but we all bring in different elements that give us our sound. It is not just one person channeling, it’s the four of us bringing in the ingredients and together making it a delicious meal.”

The eagerly awaited Equilibrium, recorded at Wild Arctic Studio in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, will be available in a variety of physical and digital formats and bundles, all of which can be found on the pre-order page here.  The vinyl options vary between the States and Europe, but over here we can look forward to the standard 180 gram black vinyl, sky-blue marbled vinyl (limited to 300 copies), or magenta marbled vinyl (limited to 200 copies). All come with a digital download card.
