Studio 52 is a community artist space located in the heart of Allston, and is proud to support the Boston music scene and local artist community.
The Boston Music Awards are returning to the recording studio.
For the second straight year, the BMAs have opened the field for the 617Sessions, a year-long series that invites 10 local bands and artists to hit the studio and record new music. The process is documented by the BMAs, and by the time the annual awards party rolls around in December, the public will have been asked to vote on their favorite track, with the winner performing live at The House of Blues.
Last year’s winner was post-hardcore quartet no hope/no harm (pictured up top by Maria Alejandra Mata for Vanyaland, from the 2017 BMAs).

“617Sessions is part of our commitment to local musicians.” says BMAs owner Paul Armstrong. “It wasn’t until after last years’ awards that we realized just how special these sessions are. Taking artists from the studio to the House of Blues stage was an amazing moment. We can’t wait to welcome another 10 artists into the studio, they’ll be in great hands.”
This year the BMAs have partnered with The Bridge Sound & Stage in Cambridge, jumping the river from last year’s base of The Record Co. in Boston. Bridge Sound & Stage is led by co-founder Janos Fulop, who as The Arcitype took home Producer of the Year at the BMAs, as well as two additional awards with his hip-hop project STL GLD (Album of the Year, Video of the Year).
