Studio 52 is a community artist space located in the heart of Allston, and is proud to support the Boston music scene and local artist community.

The new album from Belly is shaping up all sorts of lovely.

Last month we received the reunited Boston band’s first bit of new music in 23 years in “Shiny One”, and today Tanya Donelly and company take us deeper into heartfelt nostalgia with “Stars Align.” The new single is a yearning bit of guitar-pop that’s so Belly it hurts, and further shapes the band’s forthcoming album DOVE — their first LP since 1995’s King — into something pretty special.

Donelly says this new track “was a dark horse that we kept coming back to in the writing stage of the album, reinventing and restructuring it. It was nearly left behind a couple of times, but we knew we could get this one to a good place if we kept at it, and it finally came together in the 11th hour before recording.”

DOVE is finally out May 4, and it’s currently available for pre-order. On Record Store Day, this April 21, Belly will also release a limited edition 10-inch colored vinyl EP featuring two tracks from the new album, one exclusive track, and a cover of “Hushabye Mountain” from 1968 film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Belly also play Boston Calling Music Festival in Allston over Memorial Day weekend before heading out on European and North American tours that extend to October. Get all dates below.
