Enola Fall shoot for the stars in video for ‘Vestigial Tail’

Australian indie-rock outfit Enola Fall have been slowly creeping into our consciousness over the years, but really throw it down with their newest track for the song “Vestigial Tail” off their upcoming fifth album, Bloodhound, which is due for release soon. The video was finally released today, the clip can be viewed below.

The band formed in 2001, and guitarist/singer Joe Nuttall has come up with a style that veers from hints of the musical quirkiness of Alt-J to the brooding of The National. There’s even a bit that might sound like Coldplay on the latest single, but to be fair, we’re talking back when Chris Martin and Co. had the ability to deliver something timeless as Rush of Blood to the Head.

Strikingly, the piano melody for “Vestigial Tail” is noticeably reminiscent of Coldplay’s 2000 single “Trouble,” but quickly finds its own identity, led by Nuttall’s gripping vocals and the continuous build of the track into a glorious and sweeping apex.

The video, a collab between Nuttall and producer Patrick Grzanna and filmmaker Natalie Plaskura, is something in itself, with some fantastical imagery a true sight to behold. “In my work as a filmmaker I love to create small aesthetic universes, giving the spectators enough space to interpret and unfold their own feelings,” Plaskura tells BuzzbandsLA. “Anything can be an inspiration; a person, a moment, even a sound. Hearing this song, I had immediately images on my mind, which was the spark to start the development of this dark tale.”
