There’s a lot of great music coming out of Boston in 2018, but we’re perhaps most excited for what Trlogy offer up as the year moves along at breakneck speed.

The Boston synthwave duo, composed of producer Lexx and vocalist Tanya, coated the city’s music scene is swaths of dark neon with their debut banger “Electric Flame,” a rousing bout of modern electro-pop and stylized Hollywood new wave that wouldn’t be out of place at ZuZu’s blossoming Overdrive dance party. “Electric Flame” is a seductive number that zigs and zags just when you least expect it, hitting the beat brakes without ever skidding off the highway. It’s an impressive turn for the young project, soundtracking the overnight shift with excessive moods and blurred realties, a continuation of the redefining of electronic music set forth by projects like The Chromatics, LGHTNNG, and NightStop.

Trlogy will drop their debut album, The Ritual, later this year on The Arcitype’s AR Classic label. “We’re really excited about the feeling and sound Trlogy has captured,” says The Arcytipe, who co-executive produced the record with Lexx. “I feel that it’s a unique one in the city of Boston.”

Buckle up, turn down the windows, and come along for the ride.
