Years & Years add bubblegum to a relationship’s pop on ‘If You’re Over Me’

British trio Years & Years is set to release highly-anticipated sophomore LP Palo Santo this July 6 through Interscope, and today gave fans a proper taste with the bubble-gum pop bounce of “If You’re Over Me.” Olly Alexander breaks it down: “This is a song about trying to stay friends with an ex. Spoiler alert — it doesn’t often work. In fact, in my experience, the relationship often ends up ruined. ‘If You’re Over Me’ is about the emotional torture that ensues — meeting up and making out, then breaking up all over again, then making out some more.” That’s something we can all get down with. In any event, fire up “If You’re Over Me” below; we don’t want to get too caught up in Song Of The Summer (SOTS) declarations, especially since we’re still muddled in May, but this fresh cut has massive potential for the feel-good season of our lives.
