St. Vincent picks up the pace and piles on the hotpants in ‘Fast Slow Disco’

When St. Vincent chose to cap off her Boston Calling set with “Slow Disco,” it felt like a wonky move. The MASSEDUCTION tune is a waltz-y one, prepping your ears for the album’s ultimate depressing crescendo on final track “Smoking Section.” But fret not — she played the upbeat “gay version” of the song, which has now been immortalized in the accompanying music video, released yesterday (June 20). The new edition picks up the pace and piles on the hotpants while our hero Annie Clark gleefully writhes around with some leather daddies. “I always felt this song could wear many different outfits and live many different lives,” the singer says of the tune. “Here she is in disco pants, sweating on a new york [sic] dance floor.” Turn up the heat and tune in below.
