Phoenix and Leather Can live at The House of Blues in Boston

Editor’s Note: You need not look at a calendar to see ‘1901’ was a long time ago. Yet Phoenix are still hustlin’ and bustlin’ along, and on Tuesday (July 3) Thomas Mars’ French purveyors of heightened indie-pop dropped by The House of Blues in Boston to reaffirm last year’s killer album Ti Amo. There was a healthy showing of classic material as well (“Lisztomania,” the aforementioned “1901” and a few others off 2009 breakout LP Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix), and the sold-out crowd ate up every second of it. Also of note was Phoenix’s merch situation, which including your traditional table set-up as well as a freakin’ vending machine of goods. That’s totally pro. Vanyaland’s María Alejandra Mata was on Lansdowne in the heat and intensity of it all, and you can scan through her full gallery, including a few shots of opening act Leather Can, below.
