Miguel and his raw physical pleasure is back on display in Boston

R&B crooner Miguel, best known for his sumptuous vocals and songs that bask in orgiastic revelry, has had quite the year in terms of experimentation and creative growth. His fourth studio album, War and Leisure, was released in December 2017 and still expressed his yearning for raw physical pleasure — only this time with robust melodies that were some of the most absorbing and gorgeous Miguel has ever utilized.

From the dreamscape explorations on “Pineapple Skies” to the smooth textures that saturate “Criminal” and the well-earned bravado on “Skywalker,” War and Leisure radiates the kind of charm and ambience that the singer has made his wheelhouse. The very first stop of his Ascension Tour — along with DVSN — is taking place this Thursday (August 23) at Boston’s Blue Hills Bank Pavilion. And just like the album, this show is will be eclectic, gritty and downright fun.

Back in March, Miguel brought his sensual energy to The House of Blues, and you can get in the mood for this week’s show by revisiting our review here.
