We’re obsessed with these modern pop album covers as ’80s vinyl artwork

Pop music is king in 2018, and as every online article has told you repeatedly since 2012 or so, vinyl is back (yeah, baby!). So naturally we’re all Gaga and TayTay over the brilliant design work of Twitter’s @selendaxo — real name: Erick — who takes modern pop albums and reimagines and filters the artwork through the wayback machine to reflect ’80s style, trends, and aesthetics.

Erick’s also posting these to Instagram (@atnpop), and we can’t get enough.

Our very favorite might just be Taylor Swift’s Reputation as homage to Michael Jackson’s Bad, but they’re all pretty spectacular. And they all should be hanging on a wall in an art exhibit somewhere.

Erick’s eager to point out that this idea isn’t totally original, as he shouts out @pvtso on Instagram for the inspiration, but he’s certainly moved the art form forward, and in new exciting directions. Check his ’80s-inspired art for albums by Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Rey, Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Gaga, and more below.
