The Jesus Lizard and All Souls live at Royale in Boston

Editor’s Note: “Thank you Atlanta!” It was that kinda night on Friday (September 7) when The Jesus Lizard tore into Boston’s Royale, the type of evening where you pretty much lose sight of reality, letting go of exactly where you are and who you are. David Yow and the gents were in prime form, tearing through more than 23 songs with all the raw fury we’ve come to expect from the Austin noise rock band. The Jesus Lizard haven’t released a new studio album in 20 years, but none of that matters when they rip through their forever-lethal catalogue. “Man, we’re the best band in the world!” Yow reportedly told Royale. “I’m really happy for all of you that you’re here.” Word to that. The melodic heaviness of Los Angeles’ All Souls got things started in the Theatre District, and Ben Stas was up-close, on the edges, and in the balconies to capture one motherfucker of a gallery.
