Massive Attack’s Mezzanine XXI Tour will hit the Boch Center in March

Massive Attack promised.

Massive Attack delivered.

A few days ago the influential UK trip-hop pioneers teased the cities included on their Mezzanine XXI North American tour for 2019, and Boston was on the list. But we didn’t have the exact date or location, until now: Massive Attack will play the Boch Center on March 14.

Public ticket on-sale is November 9 at 10 a.m., and there’s an American Express pre-sale for Wednesday (November 7) at 10 a.m.

The tour is in support of the band’s classic 1998 album Mezzanine, and will feature Cocteau Twins Elizabeth Fraser, the voice behind their massive single “Teardrop.”

Massive Attack recently reissued Mezzanine not as vinyl, cassette, or compact disc, but in the form of DNA spray paint. This tour, however will showcase a bit of a re-imagining of their revered 21-year-old record. “Mezzanine XXI will be a totally new audio/visual production featuring [Cocteau Twins’] Elizabeth Fraser and designed by Robert Del Naja with collaborators to be announced at a later date,” reads a press release, via Fact Mag.

Massive Attack’s Del Naja goes on to describe this Mezzanine XXI tour as the group’s “own personalized nostalgia nightmare head trip,” and this audiovisual production has been “reconstructed from the original samples and influences.”
